Special Forum on Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering Equipment (Fengdong PART)
"Precision Controlled Atmosphere Heat Treatment and Its Emission Reduction Technology"
At this conference, the Special Forum on Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering Equipment, chaired by Mr. Han Boqun, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Fengdong, captured broad attention. Mr. Han delivered a keynote report on the topic of "Precision Controlled Atmosphere Heat Treatment and Its Emission Reduction Technology," where he introduced the company's research and application progress in precision controlled atmosphere heat treatment and reduction technology in recent years, in response to the background of green manufacturing, low-carbon, and the "dual carbon" strategy.
In the report, it was introduced that Fengdong, through computer-aided design software, precisely designs and optimizes the temperature field and airflow field of the equipment, effectively improving the uniformity of temperature and atmosphere in carburizing furnaces. The company has launched a 6-ton large pre-evacuated vacuum controlled atmosphere multi-purpose furnace, which uses the pre-evacuation method in the front chamber. This greatly reduces the air intake when workpieces enter the furnace, minimizing internal oxidation, accelerating atmosphere recovery, and featuring a flame curtain-free structure, making the equipment safer with a high level of automation.
At the same time, Fengdong's developed atmosphere recovery device has successfully reduced the gas consumption of carburizing furnaces by about 30%. The waste heat recovery technology for heat treatment can achieve a comprehensive energy-saving effect of 5-10%. Additionally, the successful development and application of the LMS/FMS intelligent management system enables full-process digital and intelligent management of heat treatment product production, effectively driving the intelligent development of the industry.

"Study on High-Concentration Deep Vacuum Carburizing-Nitriding Thermal Treatment Process"
Zhang Zhichong, Head of the Processing Division at Jiangsu Fengdong, shared a keynote report on the topic of "Study on High-Concentration Deep Vacuum Carburizing-Nitriding Thermal Treatment Process" at the conference.
In the report, the research team conducted a comprehensive analysis of the performance of 18CrNiMo7-6 camshafts after vacuum carburizing (970°C), gas cooling, nitriding, quenching, and low-temperature tempering using various testing methods, including optical microscopy, electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), spectral composition analysis, residual austenite measurement, and hardness/hardening depth testing.
The results showed that after this process treatment, the microstructure of the workpiece surface primarily consisted of martensite, residual austenite, and dispersed carbonitrides. The effective hardened depth was approximately 1.8 mm, with a surface carbon content of 1.2%, nitrogen content of 0.76%, surface hardness exceeding 60 HRC, and a residual austenite content of around 25%. This research successfully overcame the contradiction between high surface hardness and high residual austenite content, providing valuable insights for process optimization in relevant industries.

Forging Strength through Innovation
This time, Fengdong organized its technical team to actively participate in the 30th World Conference on Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering. The team learned from industry experts about cutting-edge technological research achievements while also sharing the company's recent progress and practices in product research and development. In the future, Fengdong will continue to deepen its focus on technological research and development, contributing even more to the advancement of the industry.
